Lionel Messi has been ‘attacked’ by Barcelona fans for not passing to Philippe Coutinho during their 2-0 win over Girona.
The Brazilian was in action all 90 minutes as Barcelona recorded their eight wins on the spin on Sunday.
The encounter saw Coutinho, who has struggled for form and game time this campaign, replace recuperating Ousmane Dembele on the left of Barca’s attacking three.
Coutinho, struggled to make meaningful impact, especially in the first half, as Nelson Semedo netted the opener for Barca.
The Brazilian appeared ready to work with left-back Jordi Alba but was not getting his support for most part of the game.
Some Barcelona fans believe his teammates were not passing the ball to him.
Luis Suarez and Alba’s interchange of passes created room for Messi to score the second for Barcelona and his sixth match in a row.
Interestingly, the fans, who were following proceedings were furious about Coutinho’s involvement and took to social media to question Messi’s support.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Barcelona claimed their 15th victory of the season after beating 10-man Girona 2-0 at Estadi Montilivi on Sunday evening.
Nelson Semedo powered home a low and powerful shot from close range to hand the visitors the lead in the 10th minute of the game.
Five minutes after breaking the deadlock in the game, Philippe Coutinho was served a superb pass by Lionel Messi but the Brazilian failed to convert the glorious chance.
