He was shot at about 2300 hours by two unknown assailants at the Catholic Church Taxi Rank area at Madina.
Ahmed was rushed to the Alpha (Pentecost) Hospital in the area and then transferred to the Police Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival. His body has since been deposited at the Morgue.
Mr Hussein-Suale had, before the incident, hanged out with his ‘Dagomba Brothers’ at a base where they usually met in the evenings to eat, drink tea and discuss the topical matters of the day.
Abdulai Sulemana, Hussein-Suale’s cousin, told the GNA that the journalist received a call from a brother he lived with that they had to send their sick niece to the hospital for treatment.
Hussein-Suale immediately drove his car towards their Madina Estates home, which was about 100 metres from where he was shot.
The family said the shooting happened in front of a lotto kiosk, quite close to the family house.
Narrating the incident to the CID team, the family members revealed that the suspected assailants were earlier seen entering a nearby bar, which was about 45 meters from the Family House.
They bought two bottles of malt and sat behind the wall of the Catholic Church.
The family revealed that shortly after Hussein-Suale had moved his car, they heard the gun shots but they thought it was an ordinary fire cracker from playing children.
However, someone in the area rushed to them and informed them that their brother had been shot.
When they arrived at the scene, he was trapped in the car, which had jumped the road to hit a Hair Salon across the street.
The visit of the CID was to console the family and assure them of their resolve to carry out painstaking investigations to arrest the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
